Description
Drozdy in onsen” is a multimedia live performance that takes us on an audiovisual journey from Tokyo to Slovakia, in a fusion of traditional and digital media where the performers combine live digital drawing, animation, VJ:ing and sound art. The theme playfully approaches the contrasts of reality and fiction, folklore and pop culture.
For the first time in the history of the world, a digital midi “Ozembuch” is invented, moving this traditional Slovak percussive instrument into the present and preparing it for the future.
The project was developed during a two-week art residence at Nástupiště 1-12 in Topoľčany, Slovakia. During the residence, four artists of different disciplines came together with the ambition to combine their respective skills into the format of live performance.

About us
Beáta Kolbašovská
Jakub Pišek
The founders of the Slovak visual collective Nano vjs, they work with media art, site specific installations, video mapping, live visuals, audio-visual performances and video art. They collaborate with artists, performers, dancers, independent theatres and musicians at home and abroad. Their projects have been presented in addition to the domestic scene, e.g. in the USA, Japan, France, Spain, Germany, Slovenia, the Netherlands etc.
Kaoru Furuko
Japanese director, animation artist and illustrator, who mostly uses stop-motion techniques for her storytelling. She works with her art and film projects in various places internationally. She is active in various fields, such as films, art direction, commercial works, installations, performances, workshops and exhibitions. She is currently working on film and art projects in Slovakia and Sweden.
Christian Wellbo
Sound designer, composer and music producer from Sweden. Produces SFX, music and technical audio solutions for game developers, directors and visual artists. He currently works in Japan where he creates audio for games.
